Throwback Thursday: Clay Matthews III takes stroll with dad, Clay Matthews Jr.

Before Clay Matthews III was a Super Bowl champion and a six-time Pro Bowler with the Green Back Packers, he was an undersized linebacker at Agoura Hills High School.

His dad, NFL veteran and fellow USC product Clay Matthews Jr., was the team’s defensive coordinator at that time.

As a late bloomer, Matthews III barely got recruited before heading to the Trojans as a walk on in 2004 where the rest is, well, history.

Four years later, Matthews III was the 26th overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft and has started at least 11 games in each of his seven pro seasons.

In our latest gem from our Prep Zone archives, we found a clip of Clay III and Clay Jr. taking a stroll during a feature shoot in 2003.
