10 things to know about Serra’s Adoree’ Jackson

Drawing comparisons to USC wide receiver and former Serra Cavalier Marqise Lee, Serra star Adoree’ Jackson is one of the most sought after football recruits in the country. He’s a shutdown corner, plays running back, wide receiver, returns kicks, and punts for the Serra football team. He’s also on the school’s basketball team and in the spring could threaten 26 feet in the long jump.

He moved to California from Illinois after his freshman year and on Friday will be counted on heavily by the Cavaliers (6-0, 1-0 Mission League) in their showdown with Chaminade (5-1, 1-0 Mission League) in the Ford CIF Southern Section Game of the Week at 10 p.m. on FOX Sports West.

Here are 10 things you may not know about him:
Meet Sweet Pea
It’s a nickname name that was given to him by his mom when he was younger and it just stuck.
Favorite sport
Jackson is a three-sport star at Serra. Basketball was actually his favorite sport growing up. He started playing basketball at the age of three.
“I didn’t play football until the sixth grade,” he said.
Late-night snack
Reese’s peanut butter cups.
Favorite team
Jackson’s favorite team these days is the Detroit Lions. It’s his choice mostly because of their major offseason acquisition – Reggie Bush.
“I’m a big Reggie Bush fan,” he said.
Favorite movie
A basketball fan and growing up in Illinois, it only seems natural Jackson’s favorite movie would be “Space Jam.” For Jackson, it gets no better than the last-second basket Jordan made when he stretched out his arm for the layup to beat the buzzer.
Biggest Fear
Jackson’s biggest fear is disappointing all of those around who support him.
“If I let everybody down – the people that have faith in me if I let them down,” he said.
Pregame ritual
Before every game, Jackson reads Psalms 23.
“That’s the only pregame ritual I have,” he said.
No. 21
When you see Jackson in his Serra uniform making plays on Friday nights, he’s wearing No. 21 as a tribute to a fallen friend. A close friend from Illinois, Jeremiah Radford, passed away after losing his battle with cancer less than a month before his 16th birthday.

Jackson was a sophomore at the time.
“His favorite number was 21 and so I just wear that for him,” Jackson said.
What’s in your iPod?
It starts with Drake.
“Drake is my favorite rapper,” he said. “I got to have that in there.”
Other than that, Jackson’s musical choices vary from things he likes to musical preferences of others around him. Other artists in his iPod include Kendrick Lamar, A$AP Rocky, Problem, and YG.
