Key player: RB/LB Myles Jack
UCLA coach Jim Mora intends on using Jack on both sides of the ball against Arizona State. Jack only saw time at running back last season when the Bruins met the Sun Devils last November, when the Devils put up 477 total yards and Jack rushed for 86 yards on 16 carries. Jack is one of the best at stopping both the run and the pass. Sun Devils running back D.J. Foster poses a tough task for the Bruins'rush defense. While the defense still searches for its identity, Jack's leadership and output will help coordinator Jeff Ulbrich get it straight.

Intangable: RB Jordan James
With quarterback Brett Hundley coming off an injury, Mora has to be hoping the run game takes off. That starts with Paul Perkins and Jordan James. Mora has said on a few occasions that the Bruins' offense is better when it features balance. The UCLA run game has more than one star. Perkins and James have been a solid one-two -- Perkins will get his. If James also puts together a strong game, the Bruins more than likely will be on the right side of this outcome.

Across the field: Sun Devils RB D.J. Foster
Arizona State's bell-cow back has been putting up monster numbers this season, gaining 510 yards on just 54 carries for an average of 9.4 yards per rush. The Bruins' defense has given up at least 120 yards on the ground in each game this season. Keeping Foster at bay will force Arizona State quarterback Mike Bercovici to put the team on his shoulders in his first ever start as a college quarterback. "Make the rookie beat you" should be the manta in the Bruins' locker room come kickoff.
Prediction: UCLA 42, Arizona State 28
The Bruins need a big win this week. Arizona State has shown to be a tough team that can beat you a few different ways. With a kid under center who has never started a game, the Bruins might find themselves in positions to create turnovers. Great defense leads to great offense. Despite the 3-0 record, not one game of the three was easy for Mora's team. This will be the easy-ish one.
