Athens, GA (Sports Network) - Forward Kara Braxton was dismissed Friday from the University of Georgia women's basketball team. Braxton was suspended three times during the 2002-03 campaign, including twice for single games and finally for the last eight contests of the season. She was also suspended for last Sunday's game against Ole Miss after violating team policies.

"I'm disappointed," head coach Andy Landers said. "As a coach, you never want to be in this position. You never want any of your players to be in this position. But you can only extend someone so many chances. Kara has been given sufficient opportunities to adhere to our team policies. At this point, I think it is in everyone's best interest, including Kara's, to move forward."

Braxton played in 20 of 24 games this season, including 17 starts. She was leading the team in scoring with a 13.7 points-per-game average. Georgia (17-7, 6-5 SEC) is ranked 18th in the latest Associated Press women's college basketball poll.
