Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Claudia Gadelha coach ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ 23

For the first time ever, strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk will coach the newest season of "The Ultimate Fighter" opposite her top challenger and No. 1-ranked contender Claudia Gadelha for season 23 of the show debuting Wednesday, April 20 on FS1.

The two-hour premiere will feature 32 of the best up and coming light heavyweight men and strawweight women as they battle to get into the house and eventually vie for the title of the new champion for "The Ultimate Fighter."

The season will culminate in "The Ultimate Fighter" finale on Friday, July 8 from Las Vegas, one night before UFC 200 takes place. Jedrzejczyk and Gadelha will face off in the five round main event with the strawweight title on the line.

Jedrzejczyk and Gadelha will join Ronda Rousey and Miesha Tate as the only other women’s mixed martial artists to coach "The Ultimate Fighter" as they get ready to take the stage for season 23 in April.

Jedrzejczyk has been a force of nature since arriving in the UFC, going undefeated and winning the women’s strawweight title with a brutal performance over former champion Carla Esparza last March.

Since that time, Jedrzejczyk has won two more title defenses, including her last victory over Valerie Letourneau at UFC 193 in Australia.

While Jedrzejczyk has been dominant since fighting for the belt, it was her last fight before receiving the title shot that gave her the greatest challenge of her UFC career, and now she’ll have to do it all over again after the show.

Gadelha battled Jedrzejczyk to a very close, split decision when they first met in 2014, and now the Brazilian is anxious for a rematch with the title on the line.

Gadelha won her most recent fight against Jessica Aguilar before being called upon to coach the new season of "The Ultimate Fighter" debuting on April 20.

Once the show kicks off, 11 more episodes will follow every Wednesday night on FS1 all leading to the finale in Las Vegas on July 8.
