In 1999, Philbin created a stir among evening television viewers as well, kicking off the primetime game show, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? The catch phrase, "Is that your final answer?" became a pop culture phenomenon. In 2001, Philbin was awarded a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Game Show Host for his work on the show.
Philbin's long career in show business has earned him numerous Emmy Awards and honors, and has been inducted into the National Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame, the Television Academy's Hall of Fame as voted on by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
