Zach Makovsky vs. Josh Sampo verbally agreed for UFC 170 in Las Vegas
Two of the top newcomers in the UFC's flyweight division have agreed to meet in February as Zach Makovsky faces off with Josh Sampo at UFC 170 in Las Vegas.
Sources close to the fight told FOX Sports on Saturday that verbal agreements are in place for the 125-pound matchup although no contracts have been issued yet.
Following his career in Bellator as bantamweight champion, Zach Makovsky (17-4) decided the best move going forward was to drop down to 125 pounds, which was a more natural weight class for him. Since that time, Makovsky has found nothing but success including his UFC debut that he took on short notice where he beat former title contender Scott Jorgensen.
Now the man known as 'Fun Size' will look to make it two in a row when he returns to action in February.
Also looking to chalk up his second UFC win is Josh Sampo (11-2) fresh off of his first fight in the Octagon as well where he defeated fellow newcomer Ryan Benoit. Sampo had one of the best performances on the entire card, but unfortunately failed to make weight, which ended up costing him $50,000 as they were rewarded 'Fight Of The Night'.
Sampo will look to make a better impression on his second go round as he faces a very stiff test in Makovsky in February.
UFC officials have not yet confirmed the flyweight bout between Makovsky and Sampo, but the fighters have agreed in principle to the matchup at UFC 170, which is headlined by women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey as she faces Sara McMann in the main event.
