The main card for UFC 180 in Mexico City is coming together quickly after the promotion announced several new bouts for the upcoming show, including a welterweight tilt between Jake Ellenberger and former "Ultimate Fighter" winner Kelvin Gastelum.
Ellenberger returns from a rough outing where he fell to current No. 1 welterweight contender Robbie Lawler. He’ll be taking on an up-and-coming talent in Gastelum, who has been asking for weeks to land on the Mexico card.
Gastelum has been undefeated since debuting on "The Ultimate Fighter" and most recently picked up a win over Nico Musoke in San Antonio.
Also added to the upcoming UFC 180 card is a tilt between "Ultimate Fighter" season one winner Diego Sanchez and "TUF: The Smashes" winner Norman Parke. Sanchez is fresh off a highly controversial win over Ross Pearson in June, while Parke got back on track with a victory over Naoyuki Kotani at the UFC Fight Night card in Dublin in July.
A pair of top-10-ranked featherweights are also set to square off in Mexico. Ricardo Lamas gets his wish and will face the streaking Dennis Bermudez, who enters the bout on a seven-fight win streak including his last victory over Clay Guida in July.
The final bout announced for the upcoming UFC 180 card features local fighter Erik Perez as he tries to bounce back from a couple of tough losses. He’ll take on "Ultimate Fighter" veteran Marcus Brimage in a bantamweight showdown in Mexico.
The UFC 180 card is headlined by heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez as he puts his belt on the line against top contender Fabricio Werdum.
UFC 180 takes place on Nov. 15 at the Arena Ciudad de Mexico in Mexico City, and will be the promotion’s first foray into the country.
