Sage Northcutt earns 2nd-highest disclosed payday in defeat at FOX UFC Fight Night

Retiring MMA legend Urijah Faber and 20-year old Sage Northcutt led the disclosed salaries for FOX UFC Fight Night: VanZant vs. Waterson on Saturday night in Sacramento.

Urijah Faber closed out his career on a win and with the biggest payday at the event after earning a unanimous decision victory on the main card airing live on FOX.

Following a 13-year career with stints in both the UFC and WEC, Faber retired with a victory over Brad Pickett in one of his best performances while doing it all in front of his hometown crowd.

For the last fight of his career, Faber earned $320,000 — $160,000 to show and another $160,000 for his win over Pickett on Saturday night.

The second-highest disclosed salary on the entire card actually went to Sage Northcutt, who suffered a second-round submission loss to Mickey Gall on the card.

Northcutt earned $60,000 for his performance, which ultimately ended in his second loss in the UFC after falling to Bryan Barberena last year.

The salary figures are disclosed by the California State Athletic Commission.

Meanwhile, main event fighter Michelle Waterson earned just $30,000 for her win over Paige VanZant with $15,000 to show and another $15,000 for the victory. Waterson did also receive $50,000 for a 'Performance of the Night' bonus for her first-round submission victory over VanZant.

In defeat, VanZant earned $43,000 with her UFC record now standing at 4-2 overall.

Leslie Smith also ended up with one of the higher paydays on the card when adding in her $50,000 bonus for 'Fight of the Night' with UFC newcomer Irena Aldana. Smith earned $50,000 in disclosed pay for the fight and with the additional bonus she earned $100,000 total for her victory.
