Ref sentenced to 37 months in prison

Veteran MMA referee Josh Rosenthal has been sentenced to 37
months in federal prision with no possibility of parole, along with
a three-year probationary period upon release for his involvment in
a large-scale marijuana distribution and growth operation in
Oakland, CA.

Rosenthal, who has officiated some of the UFC’s biggest bouts,
plead guilty to several drug charges including conspiracy to
manufacture and distribute marijuana and possession with intent to
distribute.

The troubled referee was arrested in April 2012 after federal
agents raided an Oakland warehouse owned by Rosenthal that
contained more than 1,300 marijuana plants worth an estimated $6
million.
