Werdum vs Browne, Tate vs Carmouche added to FOX UFC Saturday in April
The next major FOX UFC Saturday event has been announced for April 19 in Orlando, FL at the Amway Center with two new bouts already confirmed for the upcoming card.
The UFC officially announced the fight card on Monday.
The first bout announced will be a heavyweight title eliminator fight as Travis Browne, fresh off of his first round knockout of Josh Barnett at UFC 168 in December will take on Fabricio Werdum.
It's expected that the winner of Browne vs. Werdum will then await the return of UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez for a title fight later in the year.
The other bout announced on Monday is a women's bantamweight showdown between two former title contenders as Miesha Tate returns to action against Liz Carmouche.
Tate is just off a loss to women's champion Ronda Rousey while Carmouche looks to bounced back from a recent defeat to Alexis Davis. With a growing list of contenders all chomping at the bit to climb the ladder in the women's bantamweight division, both Tate and Carmouche are in desperate need of a win to stay relevant in the title hunt.
As highly anticipated as both Browne vs. Werdum and Tate vs. Carmouche will be, neither will serve as the main event. According to UFC officials, a headline fight for the upcoming Orlando FOX UFC Saturday card is still yet to be determined.
Tickets for the upcoming event will go on sale Feb 12 through Ticketmaster.
