Warning: don’t heckle Gilbert Melendez if you’re in the vicinity of his wife or else you’re bound to get “face smushed.”

One unfortunate fan found that out the hard way back in May 2012 when “El Nino” was defending his Strikeforce lightweight title against arch rival Josh “The Punk” Thomson.

Listen as the man who is set to face Diego Sanchez in a pivotal lightweight match-up tomorrow night at UFC 166 in Houston, Texas details what went down, and how his better half – who just so happens to be a former Muay Thai champion herself – “high-fived” this unrelenting fan in the face, leading to the genesis of what has now become know simply as “The Face Smush Incident.”

Be sure to stay tuned to FoxSports.com all weekend for complete coverage of UFC 166.
