Maximo Blanco vs. Felipe Arantes added to Feb. 15 UFC Fight Night
UFC featherweights Maximo Blanco and Felipe Arantes will square off in an attempt to get back into the win column when they face off at the upcoming UFC Fight Night event in Jaragua do Sul, Brazil on Feb. 15.
The UFC announced the booking on Friday night.
Blanco comes in with a reputation for wild and exciting fights, but he’s in need of a victory after losing two of his first three bouts in the Octagon. In his last matchup, he was disqualified for an illegal knee against a downed Akira Corassani.
The blow broke Corassani’s nose, and Blanco later publicly apologized for the rule violation. His only win thus far has come against Sam Sicilia, and he’s 9-5-1 with 1 no contest overall.
Arantes has had mixed results in the UFC, winning two, losing two and having one draw. In his last fight, which came in September, he lost a split-decision to Edimilson “Kevin” Souza. Arantes is 15-6-1 with 1 no contest in his career.
The Feb. 15 event will be headlined by a middleweight matchup between contenders Lyoto Machida and Gegard Mousasi. Machida, who recently made his debut in the division, is currently ranked No. 4, while Mousasi was slotted at No. 9 as a light-heavyweight and will be making his first go in the UFC as a 185-pounder.
