Khabib Nurmagomedov issues apology after being pulled from fight with Tony Ferguson

Khabib Nurmagomedov is back in good health after a scary weight cut put him into the hospital last Friday, which also forced him out of his scheduled bout against Tony Ferguson at UFC 209.

The news came down Friday morning after Ferguson had already hit the scale at the official weigh-ins that Nurmagomedov was taken in for treatment and he was deemed medically unfit to compete on the card taking place 24-hours later.

It was the latest mishap that has stopped Nurmagomedov and Ferguson from facing each other in the Octagon following two prior bouts being cancelled due to injury.

Nurmagomedov didn't say much after being pulled from the card, but late Sunday he issued a statement via his Instagram account where he apologized for the weight cutting disaster that led to his withdrawal from the event.

"Whoever you are or whatever you do, you'll get only what God prescribed for you," Nurmagomedov wrote. "AlhamduliLlah for everything God gifted me for my 28 years, I got much more than I asked. I know that many people was waiting for this fight and I fail them.

"Want to bring my apologies for all my fans, UFC and my opponent Tony. My health is fine now, thanks God. These tough testing only makes me stronger. Thank everyone for the support."

Nurmagomedov missed out on the fight with Ferguson as well as the chance to win the interim lightweight championship not to mention the $500,000 payday he was set to earn for his appearance at UFC 209.

After Nurmagomedov was pulled from the event, UFC president Dana White said he was undecided on whether or not he would book the Russian for another bout against Ferguson or just move forward with another fight entirely.

As of now, no decision has been made but it sounds like Nurmagomedov is back to full health while awaiting word from the UFC on what comes next for him.
