On October 19th at UFC 166 in Houston, Texas, former UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos is in search for some payback against current champ Cain Velasquez. Originally, dos Santos challenged Velasquez for the title at the first UFC on FOX event in November 2011 where “Cigano” floored Velasquez with one punch to take the gold. The two last met less than a year ago at UFC 155 where Velasquez reclaimed the belt by outworking dos Santos for a 5 round unanimous decision. Both dos Santos and Velasquez are each other’s only Octagon loss and are the only thing standing in the other’s way to name themselves the best in the weightclass.

“I want to become champion again,” asserts dos Santos. “I don’t think [Cain Velasquez] is the number 1. He’s really good, but I think I’m number 1. It would be amazing to knock him out again. I can see things better now than I did before. I’m going to be very prepared for this one. I want to be the guy who will be on top.”

For dos Santos, the key to a future victory over Velasquez is the same as it ever was - knockout power. In his 11 Octagon appearances, “Cigano” has battered his opponents with pummeling punches en route to 7 KO/TKO finishes including 3 Knockout of the Night bonuses. Most recently at UFC 160, dos Santos added a new weapon to his arsenal by felling granite-chinned Mark Hunt with a spinning heel kick to the head.
