Jon Jones: Maybe Chuck Liddell should have fought smarter and saved his chin

Jon Jones fires back at Chuck Liddell after the former champion said that he could still give him trouble to this day even at 46 years of age.

When the history books are written, Jon Jones may go down as the greatest fighter of all time, but he still has his share of detractors. Among them is UFC Hall of Famer and former champion Chuck Liddell, who recently said that even today he could give Jones problems if they ever met in a fight.

It appears Jones has been paying attention to Liddell's comments because he fired off a couple of responses on Twitter on Thursday in response to the recent interview.

Jones claims he's never had a bad word to say about Liddell, but time and time again the former champion has made similar comments in regards to a potential fight between the two of them.

While Jones wanted to avoid some kind of heated altercation he finally fired back at Liddell taking a shot at his questionable chin that was once rock solid but ultimately cost him several brutal knockouts at the end of his career.

Jones obviously has much bigger things on his mind right now that dealing with Liddell.

He's currently in training camp preparing for his upcoming title fight against Daniel Cormier at UFC 197 on April 23 in Las Vegas.

The fight will mark Jones' return to action after he was suspended and stripped of the light heavyweight title last year following a hit-and-run accident in New Mexico.

Jones never actually lost the title in a fight so he's anxious to dispatch Cormier for a second time and bring the championship home with him again.

As for Liddell, he remains retired and at 46 chances are he's not going to find out how he would do against Jones now or any time in the future either.
