He is ranked as the No. 1 UFC lightweight contender, yet there is probably little chance of him getting a third opportunity to fight current champ Anthony Pettis after losing in the first two. That effectively means he’s going to have to hold his spot until Pettis loses his grip on the gold. Either that or somehow convince UFC brass that there is no more deserving man for the job.
