Over the weekend, news broke that UFC flyweight contender
“Uncle Creepy” Ian McCall had been forced out of his
match-up with Scott Jorgensen on the upcoming UFC on FOX: Pettis
vs. Thomson event scheduled for December 14th at the Sleep Train
Arena in Sacramento, California.
When no specifics were given for the popular McCall’s
withdraw, various theories and speculative reasons began popping up
on “The Underground.” Not one to leave his fans on the
popular message board – collectively know as the
Underground Creepy Top Team – in the dark, McCall posted
pictures of his swollen, stitched-up right hand, saying that he was
hopeful he would only miss six weeks.
McCall, who entered the UFC as the top-ranked flyweight in the
world, took part in the four-man tournament to crown the first
champion in the UFC’s 125-pound weight class back in 2012.
After his initial bout with Demetrious Johnson resulted in a draw,
the two faced off again three months later, with “Mighty
Mouse” earning a unanimous decision win.
Following a loss to tournament finalist and current title
challenger Joseph Benavidez, McCall bounced back with a unanimous
decision win over Iliarde Santos at UYFC 163 before being tabbed to
welcome Jorgensen to the division in December. A replacement for
McCall has not yet been named.
