Apparently John Dodson didn’t listen to his opponent’s walkout music.

Darrell Montague strode to the cage with Ice Cube’s “Today Was a Good Day” bumping through the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas, poised to make his UFC debut against the former title challenger and Ultimate Fighter winner. Before the first round was over, Montague might have been ready to reconsider.

The pint-sized powerhouse known as “The Magician” cracked his opponent with a straight left early in the bout, setting the tone for what would follow. Though he showed great resiliency, Montague was no match for the dynamite in Dodson’s hands, as the long-time Team Jackson-Winkeljohn representative continued to land crushing lefts until he ultimate felled “The Mongoose” late in the opening frame.

Check out Dodson’s handy work in the highlight package above, and keep it locked on FoxSports.com for more post-fight coverage from UFC 166.
