Cormier, a former Olympian, is known for his wrestling but still maintains the power he showed off while running through the Strikeforce and UFC heavyweight divisions. He even showed a new complexity to his striking in his last fight, a split decision over Swedish boxing ace Alexander Gustafsson, where he landed a career high 140 significant strikes.
Against Bones at UFC 182, Cormier landed just 35 percent (58 of 165) of his significant strikes thrown, so he’ll need to be for more accurate if he wants to come away with a victory next week. But all is takes is one, and Cormier predicts that one will be a left hook.
