Conor McGregor: WWE superstars didn't know what to do when a 'real man' showed up

Conor McGregor may be focused on his rematch with Nate Diaz at UFC 202, but he's certainly having fun at the expense of the WWE and their superstars leading up to his fight on Saturday night.

McGregor made a back handed comment directed at professional wrestlers during a media conference call a couple of weeks ago and then followed that up with a message on Twitter saying he would "slap the head off" the entire roster in a real fight.

The situation exploded from there with a laundry list of top WWE performers firing back at McGregor on social media and he kept the game going with another tirade this time aimed at top superstar John Cena.

McGregor says that just goes to show the influence he possesses because when he talks, the entire world is listening.

"It was quite amusing," McGregor told "UFC Tonight" about the exchange with the WWE performers. "It was not planned in any way. I was just asked a question and I rolled with it and it took on a life of its own.

"I had a little fun on Twitter with it and then as you know with the social media age, and something I put out seems to blow up these days. Like that retirement thing, that was just another one."

McGregor has received messages from numerous professional wrestlers over the past couple of weeks after his initial jab on Twitter and he'll likely receive even more ahead of his bout on Saturday night.

Even former WWE superstar turned UFC hopeful CM Punk said that McGregor played the professional wrestlers before admonishing them for falling into the trap in the first place.

McGregor says ultimately the WWE wrestlers reacted because they had no idea what to do when a real fighter came along and claimed alpha male status on each and every one of them.

"It's been amusing watching all these dweebs sputter around, they're flapping over the place. They don't know what to do when a real man shows up and questions their whatever it is that they do," McGregor said.

"I don't even know what it is they do. Whatever, it is what it is, I am laughing all the way to the bank with it."

He hopes to be cashing in on the attention he's received from the WWE as well because McGregor fully expects the entire roster to tune into his fight against Diaz at UFC 202 not to mention all the fans who have clung to his every word ever since this feud started.

"Let all them boys and all the WWE universe tune in this Saturday to UFC 202 and see what happens," McGregor said. "I know they'll be watching."
