Cole Miller submits Sam Sicilia, calls out Donald Cerrone
Finally, Cole Miller can enjoy being home.
The Macon native grew up just a 90-minute drive from here, but said being home wouldn’t matter to him until after the fight. Well, he and the hundreds of his supporters in the crowd at The Arena at Gwinnett Center will have plenty of celebrate.
Miller defeated Sam Sicilia with a rear naked choke submission at the 1:54 mark of the second round Wednesday night at UFC Fight Night: Rockhold vs. Philippou. Miller dropped Sicilia with a picture-perfect overhand right, got his back and choked him out.
When it was over, Miller (21-8) called out UFC lightweight Donald Cerrone to drop down to 145 pounds and fight him. He told Cerrone to stop eating those “cheeseburgers and Twinkies, homie.”

Miller utilized his game plan to perfection in the first round, using his reach to keep Sicilia (12-4) from closing the distance. Miller counterpunched, forcing Sicilia to chase and get frustrated.
In the second round, Miller was more aggressive. He hurt Sicilia early in the round with a right and that overhand right that led to the finish was right on the button.
Miller, who has now won two straight, walked over to UFC president Dana White after the fight and asked him for a contender, he told Anik. He also said he might have broken his left hand on a punch.
Sicilia has now lost three of his last four, but he was coming off a win over Godofredo Castro in his last fight, so his job should be safe. Miller, meanwhile, looked as good ever in his home state.
“I promise to be more consistent in the future,” he
