The oddsmakers ahead of the upcoming UFC Fight Night card in Cincinnati have instilled Erick Silva as a near two to one favorite over Matt Brown in the main event. This is despite the fact that Brown is on a six-fight win streak and ranked No. 7 in the world, while Silva is ranked No. 14 and has never won two fights in a row while competing in the UFC.
The inauspicious odds go front and center on today's Great MMA Debate podcast as we talk about the lopsided underdog status Brown is facing as he fights in his hometown this weekend against Erick Silva.
Brown will also drop by to discuss the upcoming fight with Silva including his new team where he worked with former UFC welterweight contender Jon Fitch, as well as the prospects of earning a title shot with a win this weekend.
In addition to Brown, fellow UFC Fight Night competitor Erik Koch will drop by to talk about his move to the lightweight division, facing another Taekwondo kid in Daron Cruickshank and how much he hates giving up food leading up to a fight.
We also discuss 'stolen phone gate' on today's show as another fighter -- this time it's Josh Thomson -- has messages sent out from his Twitter account without his permission. Thomson said his phone was stolen, and this is on the heels of Jon Jones' phone being hacked/stolen/somebody erroneously tweeted things under his name.
Are the fighters telling the truth or is there more to this story than meets the eye?
All this as well as debate topics surrounding Pat Barry's future after his latest knockout loss and a full breakdown of the main card from UFC Fight Night: Brown vs. Silva.
