Alistair Overeem has been a model citizen in one week at Jackson-Winkeljohn MMA.
Both Greg Jackson and Mike Winkeljohn told UFC Tonight's Ariel Helwani that Overeem's attitude at the Albuquerque gym has been beyond expectations thus far. The top heavyweight has been a great teammate, humble and helping others since arriving last week.
Overeem left the Blackzilians in Boca Raton, Fla., earlier this year and many former teammates did not have nice things to say about him. Gilbert Burns, a recent UFC signee and Blackzilians fighter, accused Overeem last month of blowing out Guto Inocente's knee in training.
Overeem, 34, is coming off a unanimous decision win over Frank Mir at UFC 168 on Feb. 1. Before that, he had lost two in a row to Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva and Travis Browne. Overeem (37-13, 1 NC) remains No. 7 in the UFC heavyweight rankings.
Jackson-Winkeljohn is the home of UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones as well as top contenders Carlos Condit, Cub Swanson, Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone and John Dodson, among others.
