WARNING GRAPHIC: Joe Riggs shows gunshot wounds to thigh on video
Well, this is an unorthodox way to market yourself.
Joe Riggs, who was set to make his UFC return after eight years away, had to pull out of his September fight with Paulo Thiago this week when he accidentally shot himself in the hand and leg while cleaning his hand gun at his Arizona home.
The UFC announced Riggs' withdrawal Tuesday. Prospect Sean Spencer will take his place against Thiago at UFC Fight Night on Sept. 13 in Brasilia.
Riggs (40-14, 1 NC), who most recently fought for Bellator and spent time with Strikeforce, said he could return by the end of the year. Let's hope the 31-year-old keeps the guns locked away before then.
