Cain Velasquez lands role in the newest Vince Vaughn film
UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez is adding onto his already impressive fight resume by also becoming an actor after landing a part in the upcoming Vince Vaughn movie titled 'Term Life'.
Velasquez will star alongside Vaughn, Shea Whigham (Boardwalk Empire), Jonathan Banks (Breaking Bad) and Bill Paxton (Big Love) with the movie being directed by Peter Billingsley.
The film, originally based on an Image Comics graphic novel, follows Vaughn's character Nick Barrow, who plans and sells heists to the highest bidder, but when his latest job goes horribly wrong he's targeted for assassination by everyone from mobsters to contract killers to dirty cops.
So to ensure that his daughter is taken care of after he's gone, he takes out a life insurance policy, but finds out shortly after that it won't kick in until 21 days later. So for three weeks, Barrow along with his daughter do everything possible to make sure he stays alive.
This marks the first film or acting project for Velasquez, who will play Marco -- the right hand man of Viktor (played by Jordi Molla), who is a ruthless gangster from Mexico who blames Vaughn's character for the death of his only son.
Velasquez is currently rehabbing from shoulder surgery earlier this year, but he's definitely keeping busy with his newest endeavor.
The film reteams Vaughn with Billingsley after they initially worked together on the film Couples Retreat, which grossed $172 million worldwide.
Term Life started shooting principle photography on March 1 with an expected 2015 release date from Universal Pictures.
