U.S. to face France at home in Fed Cup World Group playoff

LONDON (AP)

The United States will face France at home in Fed Cup competition in an attempt to get back into the World Group.

The International Tennis Federation announced Tuesday that the playoff will be held April 19-20 at a venue to be determined.

On Sunday, the U.S. Fed Cup team lost to Italy 3-1.

Russia will host Argentina, Slovakia will travel to Canada and Spain will be at home to Poland in the other playoffs.

The playoff winners will advance to the World Group in 2015, while the losers play in World Group II.
