Preds surprise kids at youth hockey game

At a recent youth game in Franklin, Tenn., the Predators organized a "pizza party" at the A-Game Sportsplex. Instead of a pizza party, the kids played in a game they'll never forget.
The Preds staff went all out, bringing announcers, cheerleaders, a band, the mascot and plenty of fans to watch the youth game. The players had player introductions from Paul McCann, the team's PA announcer.
Barry Trotz spoke with The Tennessean about the event.
"I think it was a thrill for the kids," Trotz said. "That's sort of what our organization has done. The lockout is not where we want to be, but we're making the best of it and doing some things in the community and it's a thrill of a lifetime for some of these kids."
It certainly was. Games that typically draw 40 fans of parents were packed and loud. The kids were ecstatic.
And really, that's what the game was always about in the first place.
