Cole Seely needed a solid performance to keep his Western Regional 250SX Class title hopes alive, and he delivered Saturday night in front of 53,927 fans at CenturyLink Field in Seattle, Wash.

The Troy Lee Designs/Lucas Oil Honda rider passed Dean Wilson on the opening lap of the 250SX Class main event and remained unchallenged for the remainder of the 15-lap race, ultimately earning his second win of the 2014 Monster Energy Supercross season.

Behind Seely, championship leader and engaged in a back-and-forth battle for second. The two riders swapped spots several times with Anderson slipping out and going off track on separate occasions. Despite the unforced errors, Anderson made the pass stick on Lap 12 to claim second.

Seely’s clutch win helped pull him within eight points of Anderson in the championship battle with one race remaining.

“I’m just trying to stay alive in the points hunt,” said Seely. “I’ve been solid and he [Anderson] has been solid. I got off to good start then Dean [Wilson] made a mistake and I capitalized. We were able to put together 15 solid laps. This is where I need to be, so I’m pumped. I’m not thinking about the points. Whatever happens, happens. It’s been a fun year.”

Hill finished third ahead of teammate Dean Wilson and Jessy Nelson.

The Western Regional 250SX Class will return to action on May 3 for the season finale at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas, Nev.
