SX: Villopoto Races To Fourth Career Daytona Supercross Victory

Ryan Villopoto led wire-to-wire Saturday night at International Speedway to earn his fourth career 450SX Monster Energy class victory at the famed track.

The three-time defending series champion passed fellow Kawasaki rider on the opening lap and went on to lead all 20 laps, winning by a margin of 12.632 seconds over .

VILLOPOTO WINS FOURTH CAREER DAYTONA SUPERCROSS

Blake Baggett raced to his first 250SX Eastern Regional victory of the season Saturday night at International Speedway in , Fla.

After moving into the lead on Lap 2, Baggett proved to be the dominant rider by leading the remaining 14 laps and winning by a 16.7-second margin.

It’s been a tough road thus far, but Ryan Dungey finally broke through for his first win of the season in Indy. The new winner was the fifth different rider to stand atop the podium this season, but following a wild night in Indy both the championship and Power Rankings experienced a bit of a shakeup. One thing that has stayed constant throughout the 2014 season is Ryan Villopoto, who’s back on top the rankings.

Every rider in the East Region is wishing they were on a Pro Circuit Kawasaki as the team moved to 3-0 to start the season and extended its 250SX winning streak to five races. Rookie superstar Adam Cianciarulo continues to exceed expectations, while continues to receive terrible luck. There’s very little separating these two at the top, but with two wins to his credit, AC’s got the edge.

Who would have thought that the track conditions inside a domed stadium would be more difficult than one outside? Well, so far in three visits to domed stadiums the riders of Monster Energy have had to compete on arguably the three most difficult tracks of the season. Last weekend in Indy proved to the one of the toughest tests of many riders’ career and fittingly enough, the race produced wild moments and a shakeup in the championship.
