Audi Sport driver Loic Duval, in the team’s No. 1 Audi R18 e-tron quattro, is awake and alert despite suffering a severe accident during Free Practice for the .

Duval went off at the Porsche Curves and the car sustained serious damage, to be lifted onto a flatbed.

In an interview with Radio Le Mans, Audi’s Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich said Duval was awake and alert. He was then transferred to a local hospital for further examinations, the team confirmed.

Audi Sport later tweeted: ”Examinations in the hospital of Le Mans have confirmed that Loic Duval is unhurt apart from two grazes to the skin.”

Duval’s No. 1 car was second in the session at 3:24.729 at the time of accident, which occurred just over one hour into the session. Audi aims to have a new car prepared for Thursday’s qualifying session.
