Tom Kristensen, who will be going for his record tenth Le Mans 24 hour victory this season, drove from the Le Mans city center to the famous Circuit de la Sarthe, showcasing the new Audi R18 e-tron quattro, which he will be competing in during the 2014 .

Kristensen drove the new diesel hybrid LMP1 car through the city of Le Mans, around the Circuit Bugatti and then up to the Le Mans Circuit Welcome Center, all while being broadcast worldwide on the Internet.

“I’ve been competing at Le Mans since 1997,” says Kristensen, “but this was absolutely new for me, too, and very exciting.”

While the car showcases a new black, red, silver and white livery on the outside, the inside of the car also features changes, with an increase in cubic capacity from 3.7 to four liters, and an energy recovery system that will store up to two megajoules of energy through a flywheel acting as a motor generator unit (MGU) on the front axle.

The FIA World Endurance Championship season opener will take place at Silverstone on April 20, where Audi will begin its title defense.
