Maldonado has been linked with Lotus for weeks, but he is also in the frame at Sauber, with some paddock sources convinced that the Swiss team is now his most likely destination. However, Todt would not confirm that it’s a straight choice between those teams.

Pastor Maldonado has admitted it was “wrong” to publicly accuse Williams of sabotage.

After a poor qualifying in Austin — the first race since the Venezuelan’s decision to leave the Grove based team was announced — Maldonado said he suspected mechanics had tampered with his tire pressures and temperatures.

Valtteri Bottas scored his first points in after finishing eighth in the United States Grand Prix.

The Williams driver enjoyed a successful weekend in Austin, making it into Q3 for only the second time this season. Then from ninth on the grid, Bottas made an impressive start and managed his tires to score four World Championship points, moving him ahead of teammate – who only has one point to his name as a result of a 10th-place finish in Hungary.
