The Grand Prix of Spain brought joy for Valentino Rossi as he got his second podium of the season and produced a highly competitive performance in Spain.

Finishing the grueling 27-lap 119km contest just 1.5s behind the rampant race-winner Marc Marquez, Rossi appears to have regained the competitiveness which he says will be crucial to his upcoming decision on whether to keep racing beyond 2014. Returning to the Jerez rostrum for the first time since 2010 can only be a positive factor as he contemplates his future.

Yamaha’s double MotoGP World Champion Jorge Lorenzo has admitted that he lacks race fitness in the wake of another crushing defeat by a merciless Marc Marquez in the Spanish Grand Prix at Jerez.

Just four races into the season and Lorenzo is a massive 65 points behind his Spanish countryman Marquez who has quickly captured the hearts and minds of home fans.

In 1954, five-time Formula 1 World Champion Juan-Manuel Fangio took his Mercedes W196 to six wins in the nine-race season.

60 years later and Nico Rosberg got to drive the legendary silver arrow around Hockenheim. Wanting to share the experience with his fans, Rosberg took a selfie video on his phone, which is now posted on his YouTube channel.

A huge crowd of more than 115,000 fans saw Spaniard Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda) take a fourth premier class victory in a row at the Gran Premio bwin de España, with Valentino Rossi (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) and Dani Pedrosa (Repsol Honda Team) also on the podium at Jerez.

With victory in the south of Spain in his 100th Grand Prix Marquez becomes the first rider to win the opening four premier class races of the year since Mick Doohan in 1992. Marquez had never previously won at Jerez in the World Championship.
