Fernando Alonso could not resist a mischievous joke on Thursday when asked about teammate Kimi Raikkonen’s struggles so far in 2014.

Raikkonen has struggled notably at since returning to his 2007 title-winning team, but for the moment the high-pressure Maranello marque is backing him.

IndyCar: Dixon fastest after opening day of practice

The Verizon Series took to the newly configured road course at for its first two practice sessions for the Grand Prix of Indianapolis.

Scott Dixon put on the fastest time of the day during second practice, while Sebastian Bourdais was unable to improve on his practice one time and fell to third on the charts.

Coming unto the fifth round of 2014 season at Barcelona, one has to wonder if Alonso can pull off the same sort of victory as he did at this circuit one year ago.

If he does, it is sure to be a popular win, as the Spanish crowds have demonstrated their passion for the two-time champion before when he has won at home. With this in mind, let’s take a look back at some of the most memorable and emotional Formula 1 home Grand Prix wins.

F1: Mercedes to test ‘megaphone’ exhaust in Spain

Mercedes is preparing to show off a louder engine note during the Spanish Grand Prix weekend.¬†Early this week, team chief Toto Wolff revealed that one proposed solution to the turbo V6 sound ‘problem’ is a sort of “megaphone” addition to the exhaust.

Along with and Renault, F1′s three engine makers have been considering how to spice up the sound of F1 2014, after some spectators and promoters were shocked at the difference compared to the screaming V8s of 2013.

Kevin Magnussen has endured a difficult time since his spectacular debut in Australia, but the McLaren driver insists that it’s all part of the inevitable learning curve.

Magnussen finished a lowly 13th last time out in China.
