16-Year-Old Confirmed for History-Making Run at Le Mans

History will be set at the 82nd running of the when 16-year-old Matt McMurry becomes the youngest driver ever to participate in motorsports’ most famous endurance race.

The culmination of a long-held childhood dream, McMurry will beat the 55-year-old record held by Ricardo Rodriguez, who was 17 years and four months when he drove an OSCA S750 in 1959 at Le Mans.

Nico Rosberg says he’s not worried about Mercedes teammate seizing the initiative with his run of four wins over the past four races.

“I’m not too focused on that,” he said of losing the championship lead in Spain. “Of course I would prefer to be ahead than behind but it’s very, very close and there still a long way to go.

Pastor Maldonado has denied suggestions that his PDVSA backing is under threat, after Venezuela’s sports minister said that there would be no more support for the country’s racing drivers.

Maldonado insisted that Antonio Alvarez had nothing to do with PDVSA’s sponsorship of Lotus.

MotoGP: Rookie Pol Espargaro Delighted With Fourth In Le Mans

MotoGP™ rookie Pol Espargaro produced a strong performance at the Monster Team’s home Grand Prix in Le Mans, finishing in fourth position for his best result yet in the premier class.

The reigning Moto2™ World Champion qualified on the front row of the grid in second at the Monster Energy Grand Prix de France and, as the lights turned to green on Sunday, he made a good start to cross the line inside the leading pack for the first lap.

F1 could return to Magny-Cours in 2015

Magny-Cours is on pole position to return to the F1 calendar next year, the boss of the former French Grand Prix venue has said.

“If the will of a number of people is confirmed in the coming weeks, we are very close,” Magny-Cours chief Serge Saulnier told France’s Infosport on Monday.
