Richard Westbrook saved the best for last, as the Spirit of Daytona driver claimed a crucial pole position for Saturday’s Chevrolet Sports Car Classic.

Westbrook took his No. 90 Corvette DP to the top spot with less than three minutes on the clock, but it looked like he was beaten when the No. 1 Extreme Speed Motorsports HPD ARX-03b of Ryan Dalziel posted a 1:25.029 in the dying stages of the heated 15-minute session.

IndyCar: Pagenaud looks to continue solid 2014 form; fastest in Friday practice

Pagenaud’s strong start to the season continued Friday at Belle Isle Park where the Frenchman topped the timing sheets in Friday practice with a 1:17.6502.

Pagenaud, who won one of the two races held in 2013′s double-feature at Belle Isle, led Mike Conway, who won the other, by less than a tenth of a second once the checkered flag flew Friday afternoon.

MotoGP: Hayden to have wrist surgery next week

After struggling on Friday at Mugello, DRIVE M7 Aspar rider Nicky Hayden expects to have wrist surgery next week, whilst a decision on his continued participation in the Gran Premio d’Italia TIM will be made on Saturday.

Hayden was one of the few riders to venture out this afternoon as he tested out his injured wrist after only managing six laps in the morning.

Lamborghini has given the Italian state police a new Huracan supercar to add to its fleet of patrol vehicles, and it sure looks good painted blue and white. No undercover missions for this one.
