Formula E: Franck Montagny signs for Andretti Autosport

Andretti Autosport, one of two American teams fielding cars into the inaugural Formula E season, announced Thursday the signing of former Formula 1 driver Franck Montagny as one of its drivers for the 2014-2015 season.

Frenchman Montagny is the seventh driver to have a confirmed seat for the season.

Video: MotoGP Le Mans podium all crashed in Mugello last year

The Italian Grand Prix at Mugello marks an important weekend for all three Le Mans podium finishers: Marc Marquez (1st), Valentino Rossi (2nd) and Alvaro Bautista (3rd).

Mugello remains one of two circuits Marquez does not have a podium on and serves as the home race for nine-time champion Valentino Rossi, who crashed out in a collision with Bautista at this circuit last year.

Report: Haas Formula One entry delayed until 2016

Gene Haas will reportedly not be fielding cars on the Formula 1 grid in 2015.

“It’s already June so it’s just seven months away and the timing issues are starting to get real crazy,” Haas told Motorsports.com. “We have a list of names [of people we want to hire], but the problem is a lot of times they’re already working for somebody and they can’t get out of their contracts for three to six months so there’s a lot of those contractual issues that have to be resolved before someone can come over.”
