FMF/Orange Brigade/KTM rider Joey Savatgy is on his way to recovery after sustaining a broken wrist at the sixth round of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship Series held at Budds Creek two weeks ago.

Since the injury suffered in the second practice session of the event, Savatgy has had a screw placed in his wrist to help the injury heal. He will return to his doctor in two weeks to evaluate the injury and get a more accurate estimate of his return to the series.

“Joey has had an amazing rookie season so far,” commented FMF/Orange Brigade/KTM Team Coordinator James Coy. “He won AMA Supercross Rookie of the Year, and most recently was battling inside the top five at the outdoor nationals before his injury. It is unfortunate that this injury occurred in the halfway mark of the season, but we will be here to support him upon his return. He has shown great potential and we will help him get back to racing as soon as he is cleared by his doctor to return to the track.”

Sebastian Vettel finally won his home Grand Prix in Germany after holding off the challenge of Kimi Raikkonen in the closing laps at the Nurburgring.

It was the reigning three-time World Champion’s first win in July, an unusual statistic that has followed him around in recent years.

“To be honest, for sure, there are a lot of expectations,” said Vettel of the pressures of racing at home. “Especially when you have a good car and for a couple of years you’ve had a good run, when you come to home soil (and) people expect you to win. I think the whole team, including myself, we never ever let that get to our head, but it just feels very, very sweet now to have succeeded after a couple of tries. Sometimes we were close.

In the 250 Class, Red Bull KTM’s Ken Roczen maintained his points lead after capturing a 2-1 moto score en route to his second overall win this season.

The track record is going to get wiped out Saturday in qualifying for Sunday’s Pocono 400 Fueled By Sunoco but Marco Andretti hopes that’s just the beginning of a great weekend.

Andretti ripped off a lap of 220.963 mph in his RC Cola Dallara/Chevy during Thursday’s open test — nine mph quicker than Emerson Fittipaldi’s mark of 211.715 set in 1989 — around the tricky tri-oval during seven hours of practice on a track that hasn’t hosted Indy cars in 24 years.
