F1: Perez Keeps Austrian GP Grid Penalty After New Hearing

Sergio Perez still has the five-place grid penalty imposed after the crash with Felipe Massa in Canada, despite the FIA holding a new hearing today.

Perez was given a chance to present his case, which was backed up by telemetry from Force India. However the stewards decided to confirm the decision made by their Canadian counterparts.

SX: James Stewart Provisionally Suspended After Failing Drug Test

Yoshimura Suzuki’s has been “provisionally suspended” by the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) after failing a drug test issued by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).

The test was administered at round 15 of the Monster Energy Championship in Seattle, Wash. on April 12. The FIM states that Stewart’s urine sample had an “adverse analytical finding of amphetamine.”

F1: Hamilton Quickest In Second Practice At Austrian GP

Red Bull’s hopes for a triumph on its home circuit were dampened Friday as Mercedes regained its dominance in Formula One, clearly setting the pace on the opening day of practice for the Austrian Grand Prix.

With ’s maiden victory in Canada two weeks ago, Red Bull ended a six-race winning streak by Mercedes but the Australian driver and his teammate did not come close to matching their rival’s speed on the Red Bull Ring.

Lewis Hamilton beat teammate to the fastest time in the second practice. Hamilton completed his best lap on the 4.3-kilometer (2.7-mile) track in 1 minute, 9.542 seconds, topping Rosberg by 0.377. Ferrari’s was almost a second off the lead in third.

Daniel Ricciardo insists that is fully motivated in its chase of Mercedes, despite the huge performance gulf between the silver cars and their opposition.

The Australian says that his Canadian GP was a useful boost for the whole team.

MotoGP: Marquez racing for the title, not the records

“More than the numbers or the consecutive victories, my objective is to win the World Championship at the end of the season,” Marc Marquez declared on Wednesday during a promotional event in Munich.

During the presentation, Marquez – who on Sunday had won for the seventh time in as many Grand Prix this season – acknowledged that he is setting records in 2014, but again made it clear that this is not his primary goal.
