Following the latest testing for the Suzuki MotoGP team in Barcelona, Randy de Puniet has pinpointed electronics as the area in which most improvements are still required.

Having first returned to MotoGP testing with a Mitsubishi electronics system, at Sepang earlier this year Suzuki used a Magneti Marelli ECU for the first time. This week, the company – with both de Puniet and Takuya Tsuda at the helm – concentrated on a new specification engine and chassis revisions, as well as their latest work on the electronics side of things.

Fernando Alonso and Ferrari led the chase of Mercedes in Austria today as the former World Champion finished both practice sessions in third place.

However he said there was still a lot to be learned, especially about the tires.

“In both sessions, Kimi and I were on different programs and now we must put all the data together to choose which of the elements we tested have worked best. There were no surprises on the tire front, the supersoft seems quicker and will definitely be the tire for qualifying, but for the race, it’s impossible to establish now what the strategy will be.

Whenever a noted collector puts some of his on the block, it’s big news in the vintage-car community.

At the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance in March, a number of high-end cars were sold out of the collection of the late Malcolm Pray, who died last summer. Tops on the list was a stunning Figoni et Falaschi-bodied 1937 Delahaye 135 Competition Court Torpedo Roadster known as “Malcolm’s French Mistress,” which sold for a jaw-dropping $6.6 million, fully 10 percent above the high estimate.

But now comes news that makes the Pray collection look like a mere drop in the bucket.

GoPro has released footage of Guerlain Chicherit’s massive crash that took place back in March when the French rally car driver was attempting a record-setting jump in Tignes, France.

Chicherit was aiming to break Tanner Foust’s record for the longest four-wheeled automobile ramp jump of 332 feet, set in 2011 at the Indianapolis 500. Chicherit was aiming to crush that record by an additional 28 feet in a modified MINI.
