Lewis Hamilton won’t be forced to start from the pitlane after the FIA accepted that his change of brake disc brand from Brembo to Carbon Industrie does not represent a change of car specification under parc ferme conditions.

Article 34.2 of the 2014 Sporting Regulations states: “It must be clear that any replacement part a team wishes to fit is similar in mass, inertia and function to the original. Any parts removed will be retained by the FIA.”

Let’s race two.

IndyCar’s weekend doubleheader will be crammed into one day because Saturday’s race was called because of rain.

IndyCar has scheduled two, 65-lap or 85-minute races – whichever comes first – for Sunday. The first race will have a rolling start at 10:30 a.m. and the second one is set for a standing start at 4:15 p.m. The order for the second race will be set by points, as of Saturday.

The world’s fastest production car on (Guiness) record – the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport – produces 1,183 horsepower and weighs more than 4,000 pounds.

Now take the Bugatti, crank up the horsepower, lower its weight and you have the all-new Koenigsegg One:1.

The Swedish manufacturer calls its newest invention the world’s first production ‘megacar’ because of its 1,000-kilowatt power rating, which converts to approximately 1,340 horsepower. Equally impressive is that the Koenigsegg machine carries a 1:1 power-to-weight ratio – hence the ‘One:1′ branding – meaning the car weighs in at just 1,340 kilograms (2,954 pounds).

Bourdais’ lap of 58.9479 seconds (107.179 mph) on the 1.7-mile, 11-turn temporary street circuit at Exhibition Place earned him his 32nd career pole. He won his first pole since Sept. 2, 2007, at Assen, Netherlands, driving for Champ Car. He’s now tied with Michael Andretti for eighth on the career open wheel poles list.

F1: Hamilton Reflects On Heavy Crash In Qualifying

Lewis Hamilton will start the German GP from 15th after he suffered a front right brake disc failure in Q1 and spun heavily into the tire wall.

Hamilton did not take part in Q2 and was thus officially 16th, but he gained a place from an Esteban Gutierrez grid penalty.

Out of choice Hamilton uses Brembo discs while Nico Rosberg uses Carbon Industrie – it’s not uncommon for drivers to swap around as they search for better feel in the car – so the German does not have an issue. The broken disc was new today and the team has no explanation for the failure, although the likelihood is that it was a one-off manufacturing fault.
