Button And Perez Say Their McLaren Deals Are Done

Jenson Button and Sergio Perez have both implied that their contract discussions with McLaren are finalized and that they will soon be confirmed for the 2014 season.

The team has always insisted that both men will stay on, although it has been in no hurry to formally take up their options.

Kimi Raikkonen confirmed Thursday that the financial situation at Lotus played a big part in his decision to move to Ferrari.

It’s no secret that the team struggled to pay the Finn’s salary and points bonuses last season, and has fallen behind again this year. Nevertheless, it was intriguing that he was so open about the issue in the public forum of a press conference. Now that he’s definitely leaving, he has no reason to be coy about it.

Making New History
In its original guise, the Goodwood Motor Circuit was in operation between 1948 and 1966. The circuit was re-opened in 1998 for the annual Goodwood Revival Meeting and we are just a few years away before Goodwood’s second coming will be longer than the track’s first. While today the competitors don’t race for price money or championship points, some still take it very seriously, preparing for the event like it was a modern day Grand Prix.

Ducati Team Places Focus On Electronics

Electronics and software strategies were the main focus for Ducati Team as it conducted its single day of post-race Misano testing on Monday.

Nicky Hayden and Andrea Dovizioso were in action per usual, joined by Michele Pirro who was sharing his bike with Franco Battaini. Heavy overnight rain left wet patches on the circuit, resulting in Ducati reducing its running time to five hours between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. As well as electronics and software, Ducati also looked into larger brake discs with next month’s Japanese GP in mind.
