World Champion Jorge Lorenzo asserted his authority in FP1 at the Gran Premio Iveco de Aragon, with Repsol Honda pair and behind him on the timesheet.

The form rider in the premier class at present, Yamaha Factory Racing man Lorenzo was determined not to let Marquez gain any psychological advantage early in the weekend and shot to the top at the end of the session with a 1’49.753 lap, to lead by just 0.008s.

The FIA says that the agreement between the governing body and FOM that sets the framework for the new Concorde Agreement has come into force, and that it provides for a boost in funds for the governing body.

The news comes as the World Motor Sport Council gathering kicks off in Dubrovnik and the timing gives Jean Todt a handy PR boost as the election battle begins to ramp up.

Lot 3001 is a 1957 Lincoln Continental Mark II and the second charity car of the day and it sells for an astonishing $700,000.  There isn’t a dry eye in the house as Kimie Metcalf, an 8 year-old cancer survivor and patient at the Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital, talked to the crowd. “Doctors gave me only a 30 to 40 percent chance of surviving,” Kimmie said. “Well, here I am!” Every penny of the sale goes to Loma Linda. Tears flow freely in the crowd after hearing Kimmie speak.
