The Indianapolis Motor Speedway is taking a different tack to bring fans to the track this May — a road race.

On Thursday, the speedway’s board of directors voted to add a second IndyCar race in May at the historic Brickyard. It’s the first time IndyCar drivers will compete on something other than Indy’s 2.5-mile oval, and it’s the first time they’ll prepare for two races in one season at the speedway. The road race is scheduled for the weekend of May 10-11, two weeks ahead of the series’ marquee event, the Indianapolis 500. Finals details have not yet been worked out.

The Korean Grand Prix is one of the newest additions on the Formula 1 calendar. Debuting in 2010, there were concerns ahead of the race that the circuit wouldn’t be ready. Despite numerous delays for the final track inspection, the circuit was completed, just about, and the inaugural F1 round in Korea took place.

Organizers of the race wanted the Korean Grand Prix to be held at a venue near the capital of Seoul; however they got the complete opposite. 400 miles away sits the Korea International Circuit, a remote location that has hindered attendance figures and proved to be a tricky location to house the thousands involved in the Formula 1 circus.

Lorenzo made a brilliant start to the race from second on the grid and it looked in the early stages of the race as if he could repeat his Silverstone and Misano victories, as he cranked up the pressure.

Marquez Friendly Fire Raises Honda Tensions

Rookie sensation Marc Marquez took control of the MotoGP world championship with victory in the Aragon Grand Prix but at a high cost to team harmony within the Repsol Honda squad.

And only time will tell if a post-race apology by Marquez to his bruised and battered teammate Dani Pedrosa will be enough to heal a widening rift.

Pedrosa was unforgiving in his assessment that Marquez’s aggressive, high-risk late braking style is over the limit.
