Start Will Be Key To Beating Vettel, Says Hamilton

Lewis Hamilton says it’s going to be tough to beat Sebastian Vettel in Korea tomorrow – and the start will be crucial to his chances of outrunning the World Champion.

“It’s going to be very hard,” he said. “That’s what it seemed a couple of years ago, or the last couple of years, to follow a car that is that competitive. Most likely if he gets away in the first lap, that’s it, unless he has a problem. So I’ve got to try to get him before that. The start of the race is crucial.”

MotoGP: IMS Changing Road Course For 2014 Indianapolis GP

For the seventh consecutive year, MotoGP will return to the (IMS) in 2014 as the venue hosts the action on a new-look road course.

From next year onwards, the three classes will compete at the world-famous venue as they already have done in the events of 2008 to 2013, beginning on the renowned yard of bricks before continuing to circulate in an anti-clockwise direction. The 16-turn, 2.645-mile circuit will feature exciting new turn configurations and braking zones, creating more passing opportunities, while the entire infield section will be repaved to create a smoother surface.

As down as he was about seeing take yet another pole position at the Korean Grand Prix, Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso found consolation in one statistic from Saturday’s qualifying session.

Alonso sat atop the list of highest speeds recorded at the end of the main straight, and it’s that advantage the Spaniard is pinning his hopes on as he looks for his first race win since April.

Sebastian Vettel maintained his extraordinary dominance of Formula One on Saturday by claiming pole position for the Korean Grand Prix.

The German has now taken pole for three straight races and is aiming for a fourth successive win. He’s also chasing a hat trick of wins at the Yeongam circuit, and most importantly, a fourth consecutive F1 championship.

Formula One team has ruled out bringing back veteran driver Rubens Barrichello to the sport next season.

Team principal Monisha Kaltenborn had left the door open earlier in the week when asked about reports of Barrichello returning at the age of 41, but closed it on Saturday.
