ALMS: Level 5 Takes P2 Win, Clinches Title At VIR

Level 5 Motorsports locked up its third consecutive P2 teams’ championship Saturday with a dominant run in Saturday’s Oak Tree Grand Prix at Virginia International Raceway.

Ryan Briscoe took the No. 551 HPD ARX-03b to a 13.464-second win over the No. 01 Extreme Speed Motorsports entry of Scott Sharp, who finished in second.

The two similarly prepared cars enjoyed an early race battle, in the hands of Scott Tucker and Anthony Lazzaro, with the Level 5 team owner losing the lead to the ESM entry just past the 40-minute mark.

WRC: Latvala Takes Overall Lead In France

Jari-Matti Latvala of Finland made the best of changing conditions to lead the Rally France on Saturday, but Dani Sordo of Spain and Frenchmen Sebastien Loeb and Sebastien Ogier are still in contention.

Latvala leads Sordo by 0.4 seconds, new world champion Ogier by 1.5 seconds and Loeb by 5 seconds. Thierry Neuville of Belgium held the top spot in the morning but punctured his left rear tire to slip to fifth place, 1:10 behind Latvala.

A.J. Foyt picked the perfect weekend to make his return to the race track following hip replacement surgery.

Takuma Sato won the pole for Saturday’s first race of the Houston Grand Prix doubleheader, giving Houston-based A.J. Foyt Racing its first pole since Billy Boat’s run at Atlanta in 1999.

Start Will Be Key To Beating Vettel, Says Hamilton

Lewis Hamilton says it’s going to be tough to beat Sebastian Vettel in Korea tomorrow – and the start will be crucial to his chances of outrunning the World Champion.

“It’s going to be very hard,” he said. “That’s what it seemed a couple of years ago, or the last couple of years, to follow a car that is that competitive. Most likely if he gets away in the first lap, that’s it, unless he has a problem. So I’ve got to try to get him before that. The start of the race is crucial.”
