SX: Monster Energy Cup Track Layout Unveiled

Feld Motor Sports has unveiled the 2013 -designed track, which will play host to ’ top riders on Saturday.

Carmichael has elected to keep most of last year’s track elements, reverse the layout and, quite simply, go bigger.

“After last year’s race, we immediately rolled up our sleeves and began working on the next generation of this track,” said five-time Supercross champion Carmichael. “I didn’t want to change the dynamics of it but wanted to fine tune what already made for one of the greatest tracks I have ever seen, and coming away from last year’s race, I knew the joker lane was a must-have.”

After fracturing his right ankle in a highly unfortunate FP4 crash at Sepang last weekend, LCR Honda’s Stefan Bradl tried to ride at on Friday but was declared unfit after FP1.

The German star had a medical review after the morning practice at the Australian track, which had seen him complete 11 laps but end up way down the timesheet in the unfamiliar territory of 20th-place.

Yamaha stars Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo joined a chorus of riders predicting record breaking speeds in Sunday’s Australian Grand Prix at Phillip Island.

Lorenzo opened the bidding with time in Friday’s free practice that was already under the race lap record held by Nicky Hayden.
