MotoGP: Progress For Lorenzo Despite Being Sixth On Day Two

Jorge Lorenzo, the 2010 and 2012 MotoGP World Champion, slipped to sixth on the Sepang test Day Two timesheet, but he did improve by half a second on his Tuesday best and got through some important work on electronics settings.

Lorenzo’s best time of 2:00.573 — on the 27th of his 49 laps — on Wednesday left him 0.647s behind title rival and pace man , but also behind teammate Valentino Rossi and the likes of FTR Yamaha-equipped compatriot .

Scott Redding was pleased with his first day of this week’s test, as the field gathered in Malaysia for the first time in 2014.

Englishman Redding steps up to the premier class with GO&FUN Honda Gresini, riding the all-new Honda RCV1000R customer bike under Open regulations. This differs from the RC213V of teammate Alvaro Bautista, whose own machine is competing under the Factory Option set of rules.

MotoGP: Bradley Smith Pinpoints Race Simulation As Most Vital In Testing

Bradley Smith insists that race simulation runs are currently the top priority in preseason testing, predicting races will be “quite different” in this year.

In 2014, Smith will contest a second full season with Monster as the field is split between either Factory Option or Open machines. Following the first day of testing at Sepang in Malaysia on Tuesday, Englishman Smith summed up events.
