MotoGP: Sachsenring layout expected to challenge Ducati in Germany

After the satisfaction of Assen, where Andrea Dovizioso finished second, the Ducati Team now arrives in Germany for the ninth round of the 2014 MotoGP World Championship, which takes place this weekend at the Sachsenring circuit.

The Sachsenring is one of the shortest and slowest circuits on the calendar, but it is by no means an easy track. Its counter-clockwise layout contains several truly difficult curves, as well as a number of ups and downs.

Felipe Massa was fastest for at Silverstone on Tuesday as the teams stayed on for two days of running after the British GP.

It was a largely uneventful day, with three teams represented by test drivers: Ferrari (Pedro de la Rosa), McLaren (Stoffel Vandoorne) and Caterham (Will Stevens).

First held in 1923, the is one the greatest annual sports events. However, unlike most other events, Le Mans’ rich heritage can actually be celebrated by bringing the protagonists, the , back to the track.

Since 2002, this is done biennially with the Le Mans Classic. This twice-around-the-clock event features cars from the 1920s all the way through the early 1980s, spread over six grids.

F1: New FIA ban on ‘FRIC’ suspensions could hurt front-running teams

The is planning a clampdown on ‘FRIC’ or front-to-rear interconnected suspension systems, which have been in widespread use in recent seasons as a tool for controlling constant ride height.

In essence, Charlie Whiting has decided that teams have been pushing the limits – and feels that systems planned for 2015, and systems that the FIA is already well aware of, will be a step too far.

NGT Motorsport withdraws from TUDOR Championship

NGT Motorsport announced Tuesday that it has withdrawn from the with immediate effect.

The Florida-based team, which has fielded the MOMO-sponsored No. 30 Porsche 911 GT America in the first five rounds of the championship, will not take part in the remainder of the season except for the Circuit of The Americas race in September.
